The Legal Assistant is responsible for supporting the tax department with the preparation, organization, and maintenance of tax records and providing legal assistance. The role involves applying legal knowledge to ensure adherence to laws and regulations and coordinating with both internal teams and external agencies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tax processes, administrative skills and a background in legal principles related to taxation.
Key Responsibilities
- Tax Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations
- Monitor deadlines and maintain accurate records
- Assist with inquiries from authorities, providing necessary documentation and responses
- Assist with the preparation and filing of tax returns
- Administrative Support
- Maintain tax-related documentation
- Organize and manage the department’s calendar, ensuring timely filings and meeting compliance deadlines
- Draft and prepare legal correspondence, reports, and other tax-related documents
Qualifications
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in law or a related field
- Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of tax laws, compliance requirements and legal principles
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail
